We build writing tools that respect your work.
Inkury is a document editor built in Sydney, Australia. We are a small team putting reliability and security ahead of feature count — because writing is how teams think, and your tools should never get in the way.
Cloud editors lose work. We were tired of it.
Most document editors treat your device as a thin client, your data as their asset, and reliability as someone else's problem. A flaky connection becomes a spinning cursor. A dropped request becomes a lost paragraph. A service outage becomes a wall between you and your own writing.
We wanted the opposite: a tool that works offline, keeps your data under your control, and never loses your changes when the network blinks. Fast because it respects your hardware. Secure because it respects your data. Honest because it respects your time.
Your writing should be safe on your machine before it is anywhere else — not the other way around.
Principles, not slogans.
These are the convictions that decide what we ship and what we refuse to. Each one shows up in the product, not just on this page.
Local-first is a better default
Your documents live on your device before they live anywhere else. Every keystroke saves locally first, so the network dropping never costs you a sentence. Cloud sync is a feature, not a requirement.
Your data is yours
Export to Markdown, HTML, or JSON whenever you want. Nothing is held hostage in a proprietary silo.
Security by default
Every import — pasted HTML, Markdown, API input — passes through the same sanitization pipeline before it ever touches your document. Protection is not a premium add-on.
Honest engineering
We describe what ships today and label what is on the roadmap as exactly that. No vapourware dressed up as a feature.
Performance is respect
A 100,000-block document stays responsive because we only render what you can see. Fast software respects your hardware and your time.
Portable, open formats
Inkury stores documents in a clean, structured model that round-trips cleanly to the formats you already use — so you are never locked in.
Local first, then the cloud — never the reverse.
Edits land on your device immediately and sync opportunistically when you are online. The result is an editor with no loading spinners, no "reconnecting" modals, and no lost work when the connection wobbles.
Honest figures from the shipping product.
The foundation is built. Here is what comes next.
The canonical document model, deterministic operations, and provenance tracking exist precisely so we can add the following safely. These are on the roadmap — clearly future, not current capability.
Real-time collaboration
Conflict-free co-editing with presence and live cursors. The canonical model is designed for it; the collaboration layer is in active development.
AI writing assistance
Assistance that proposes changes through a review workflow you control — visible, reviewable, reversible — rather than silently rewriting your work. Planned, not yet in the product.
Extensions & plugins
A capability-based plugin system where extensions run isolated in a sandbox with explicit permissions. The architecture is specified; the marketplace is not yet open.
Built in Australia, for writing you can trust.
Inkury is headquartered in Sydney and operates under Australian privacy law. We are always interested in hearing from people who care about building reliable software — region-specific data residency is on our Enterprise roadmap.
